Between the generous fillings, bold flavours, and no-nonsense diner style, Harvey’s Hot Sandwiches is the real deal.
We have been hanging out to try this place for a while, and we are so glad that we finally made it! This place is total 80’s American diner… complete with all the fix-ins. Tucked away at the entry to a train station, with all the hustle and bustle of people on their way to and from work, you wouldn’t even know this place was here unless you were looking for it. The vibe is just the start and the main course… amazing sandwiches on another level.

First up: drinks. We went classic with a Coke and a salted caramel milkshake. There’s not much to report on the Coke… it was a Coke, and it did exactly what a Coke should do. But the milkshake? Smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced with just the right hit of caramel. Salted caramel can be very hit-or-miss, but this one was a definite hit.

For sides, we went all in with seasoned fries and onion rings. The fries were perfectly seasoned, a little salty, a little sweet, a little tangy, with that ideal combo of crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Onion rings are usually where places fall down for us: too oily, too much batter, not enough onion, no seasoning, or weirdly clumpy. But these? Absolutely spot on. Crisp on the outside, soft in the middle, never oily, and coated in a generous dusting of Harvey’s special seasoning that hit all the sweet-salty-tangy notes. Honestly, we’d happily come back just for a giant basket of these onion rings.

Our first sandwich pick was the No. 2 Nashville Hot Chicken – Damn Hot. Right from the first bite, the Comeback Sauce was pure bliss, creamy, tangy, and doing exactly what a great sauce should do: pulling everything together. The chicken was well coated, tender, and delivered just the right level of heat, not face-melting, but definitely not shy. And something we really appreciated: there was an actual proper amount of chicken. Not a giant pile of coleslaw hiding a sad little piece of chicken underneath, just good, generous chicken front and centre. The coleslaw was maybe a touch wetter than we’d usually like, but it still added a fresh crunch that balanced out the richness and spice. And the bread? A perfect American-style hoagie roll that held it all together without falling apart. All up: seriously delicious.

And then there was the No. 1 Beef Dip. Honestly, you can’t go to Harvey’s and not order the Beef Dip… it’s basically the law. Not only do you get a seriously good sandwich, but you also get an incredibly savoury dipping sauce that takes the whole experience to another level. Spectacular. On its own, the sandwich is already a winner: tender, thinly sliced beef layered with perfectly melty, gooey cheese in a soft hoagie roll. But once you add the dip? Game over. It cranks everything up to an eleven. Without question, this was our favourite menu item so far.

Here’s the sauce lowdown:
🥪 Comeback sauce – So so good. We are very glad we got an extra little tub of this… tangy, sweet, savoury… all the things it should be and it definetly had us coming back for more.
🥪 Aioli – Classic, creamy, and just how an aioli should be.

We can’t forget to mention the dill pickle. On its own? It was a pickle. Not the best pickle we’ve ever had, if we’re being honest. But add it to the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and suddenly it made perfect sense, crunchy, tangy, and exactly what that sandwich needed.

Final verdict: come hungry, order the Beef Dip, don’t skip the onion rings, and say yes to extra sauce.
