Between the matcha drinks we’re still thinking about and that perfectly balanced yuzu cheesecake, SuperSweet turned a quick stop into a next-day return.
Our second stop on our Canberra adventure was a little cafe in the foodie precinct of Lonsdale st. We had been visiting the shop next door looking for some cool local made souvenirs (yes, we did buy a Canberra bus stop magnet) when our hunger buds started tingling and we were thirsty for some cold drinks… luckily this hidden gem was right next door, and we are so lucky we found it.
As soon as we walked through the door, we spotted the special drinks board with a variety of drinks that piqued our interest, but we were pulled straight away to the matcha drinks. We opted for the Iced Strawberry Matcha and the Ube Matcha Cloud. We have had our fair share of matcha, and we are always on the looking out anything matcha… and we have to say… this was good. We mean really good. The Strawberry Matcha was sweet and refreshing with blended strawberries and a really smooth velvety matcha layer. Now the Ube Matcha Cloud… wow! This was soooo good… we may have gone back the next day just for this one. It was so fluffy and smooth and with that hit of sweet ube, this was a total winner.
We decided to head somewhere else for our actual lunch (more on this in our next blog) but we could not resist the tempting cake counter with some super interesting cake’s involving matcha, ube, pistachio, layered crepes, so we had to try one. Being lovers of citrus, we went for the Yuzu Citrus Cheesecake. The tart, tangy yuzu gelatine, paired with the creamy, sweet cheesecake foam, and the thin crunch of the base… makes for the perfect melt in your mouth moment and we really enjoyed this one.
This cafe 100% met our cravings for something sweet and refreshing. This will definitely be a hit for all of our future Canberra adventures.
