$$ Average Joe
After a week of rain, we woke up to sunshine and knew exactly what we had to do… get outside, feel the sand between our toes, soak up the rays, and find something seriously good to eat. So, we headed to the beach and made our way to a local gem that promises “slow cooked food fast.” Spoiler alert: it delivered.

First up, juice! We went for a Bora Bora and a Cuba, and these weren’t your average juice bar blends. Fresh watermelon, mint, passionfruit, pineapple and pear all teamed up to throw a tropical party in our mouths. Sweet, tangy, and totally beach-vibes-in-a-glass. We both agreed they were the perfect kickstart, refreshing, fun, and so good we nearly went back for round two.

Next up, the Karaage Chicken roll. And wow… just wow. This thing was off-the-charts delicious. It ticked every box: tender, juicy chicken wrapped in a golden, crunchy spiced batter, creamy slaw for that rich hit, tangy mayo cutting through, and fresh coriander tying it all together. The bread was fresh and warm, with that perfect contrast, soft and fluffy on the inside, golden and crunchy on the outside. Every bite was a flavour bomb. If we had to pick a favourite from the whole meal, this was it, no question.

We’ve had our fair share of Philly cheesesteaks and let’s be honest, they often miss the mark. Think chewy meat and sad stringy cheese. But not this one. This was a redemption arc in sandwich form. Thinly sliced, tender beef paired with perfectly melted provolone, a fresh mesclun crunch, and that sweet-tangy capsicum and onion mix pulling it all together. Every bite was a ticket to flavour city, and we were all aboard.

Now the fries… Oh, the fries! We went for the chilli cheese fries and honestly, they were comfort food magic. House-made and full of rustic charm, the fries were soft, not greasy, and while we wouldn’t have said no to a little extra crunch, they still totally hit the spot. The chilli sauce? A flavour bomb. Not fiery-hot but packed with depth and just enough warmth to keep things interesting. Add in that gooey, melty cheese oozing over the top, and boom, perfection on a plate.

This wasn’t our first rodeo with the salt & pepper squid here and for good reason. One bite and we knew we’d be coming back for it. The squid was beautifully tender, wrapped in a golden, salty-peppery crunch that nailed the texture. Dip it in that smoky chipotle aioli and… game over. We’re calling it: this might just be the best salt & pepper squid we’ve ever had. If you come here, don’t even think, just order it.

One of the best things about this café? It’s right on the beach. No shoes required, just grab your food, wander barefoot onto the sand, and enjoy a picnic with the sound of waves in the background. Today felt like a little slice of heaven.
The service was warm and welcoming, with big smiles all round. The space is clean and coastal cool… and the food? Takeaway done right. No sad, soggy mess, just fresh, restaurant-quality meals packed and ready for beachside bliss.
Signing off with full bellies and sandy toes,
